It's ALL about viewing figures - that's why Man Utd will always be selected for TV. Sure, people want to see the 'romantic' ties, but more people want to watch Man Utd. Same wiyth MOTD - them and Liverpool will always be on first, or near the start if something big happened elsewhere.

Some cultures would pay to watch a turd drift down the sewer if it was wearing a red shirt.

Probably more to do with viewing figures and advertising revenue

Every FA Cup match in the 3rd and subsequent rounds is sold globally - nothing to do with whether a match is chosen for UK broadcast.

They will shortly shift many of the 10 Saturday 3:00pm matches that weren't chosen for UK broadcast to other times on Saturday / Sunday so that there is an even spread of matches that are shown at the same time.

I'd imagine that the reason that the Man U & Liverpool games are normally always chosen is that they can sell the rights globally and get big bucks, probably the same reason why Spurs are rarely on live

I suspect ITV chose the Man U game just to piss off the BBC; ours and the Boreham Wood game are clearly in the "Romance of the FA Cup" category, but even that seems not a big enough driver.

What a complete shock that the Liverpool and Man U games have been chosen despite very 'meh' opposition. I see man City still aren't quite as favoured then.

Ours was an obvious pick as is borehamwood. Spurs Brighton is a decent tie on paper.

Bit of a shame Cambridge don't get a bit of recognition for knocking out Newcastle- not sure why that game wasn't televised TBH.

Give it a rest, feet! So no criticism is allowed? Fucking pathetic. Is Moyes allowed to criticise, or should we tell him to stop moaning and watch old cup games too?

You ain't judge and jury around here, fella, so stop your whining about other peoples opinions on a fucking forum, a forum set up for that very reason.

Shock horror ITV close Man Utd game as first pick tie of the round.

Re: The Emirates FA Cup 4th round draw - Kidderminster (Away)
Can someone please explain how a draw made on live tv is rigged?

With tongue firmly in cheek...MY OWN cheek:

1. It's only numbered balls that are drawn.
2. Teams are only allocated a number at the last minute (or, at least, within 15 minutes),
3. Whoever is conducting the draw is also only announced very late on in the process.

Theoretically - and with enough coercion/hush money - they could run and record several "live" draws and only broadcast the one they think best suits the major sponsors/advertisers.

Not saying anything like that happens, but them saying something is "live" doesn't make it so - even if it is the BBC.

For those on here who still find things to moan about on match day threads should really watch these highlights and start to appreciate what we have.

Alvin Martin looked about 50, Lee Chapman was just awful and as for our style of play fucking abysmal.

I don't look back on those days with much fondness.

Well except for Ludo.

I went to the original beam back at UP but just watched the Kidderminster away highlights for the first time since 1994.

Can't believe the ref didn't give them a penalty towards the end. Absolute stonewaller and probably should have gone to a replay.

The commentator didn't even mention it but they'd be all over it if it happened today.

Martin Allen most certainly wasn’t ordinary.

He was a good player for us.

I also went to the last one. It was an absolute stinker of a game. We had some very ordinary players back then. Rowland, Marsh, Holmes, Martin Allen and Lee Chapman amongst the worst.

Here's a link to the highlights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEG34dPdxSI

Just checked and ITV have first pick in round 4. They will choose our game.

Not sure what this might mean for timings when have to fit around X factor or whatever.

Have to wait and see.

Agree that this seems absolutely nailed on for the 5.30pm Saturday tv slot.
Hopefully we go absolutely full strength & respect the occasion.

Went to the game the last time we played them.
